Downtown Reno River Walk

Reno has a much calmer vibe than Las Vegas. Yes, you can still gamble, but the benefits of being in this city is the beauty. The city is 30 minutes away from Lake Tahoe, but there are still some pristine spots around the city that I found in October.

I started downtown by the Truckee River on Virginia Street and headed west into Wingfield Park. It clearly is a hangout spot for teenagers, but I also found a couple of people fishing. From there, I walked north to see the Eldorado, Harrah’s and the Circus Circus. The day ended with a trip into Sparks and Gateway Park.

Reno is worth a visit if you’re doing California and Nevada on a backpacking trip.
